 Storytelling and dramatic arts
Storytelling and scribing sessions, puppet shows, dramatic play / role play to develop narrative skills and confidence in expressing themselves.

Vocabulary Enrichment
Targeted vocabulary building activities integrated into daily routines and play.  Introducing rich language and diverse concepts

Communication Skills
Encouraging active listening , turn taking skills in conversations and expressing thoughts and feelings clearly and respectfully

Makaton Exploration
Introduction to basic words and phrases in Makaton to foster an awareness and appreciation for diversity.

 Gross Motor Exploration
Daily outdoor play in our nursery garden and “Secret Garden” climbing structures, balancing, riding  bikes and trikes, exploring the outdoors and using lots of different materials and resources.

Fine Motor Mastery
A variety of activities designed to develop fine motor skills including threading, cutting and snipping with scissors, manipulating play dough, using tweezers pipettes and pincer tools etc.

Yoga and Mindfulness
Introducing simple yoga poses and mindfulness activities and exercises to promote body awareness, relaxation and emotional regulation.

Healthy Habits
Learning about nutrition through hands on cooking activities, exploring different fruits and vegetables and understanding the importance of healthy eating routines.

Emotional Literacy
Teaching of emotions helping children to identify, understand and manage their feelings in healthy ways. We use the ZONES OF REGULATION.

Social Skills Development
Opportunities for collaborative play, group projects conflict resolution activities to build empathy and respect for others.

Building Resilience
Encouraging children to try new things, persevere through challenges and celebrate their successes.

Community Connections
Visiting the library going to the farm, having visitors into nursery from the Dentist, Doctors, Fire brigade and Police, fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility.

Maths in every day life
Integrating mathematical concepts into daily routines and play, counting objects and sorting toys, measuring ingredients etc.  

Hands on Maths Activities
Using manipulatives, games and real life scenarios to explore number, shape, pattern and measurement.

Problem Solving and Critical Thinking
Encouraging children to ask questions, explore different solutions and develop problem-solving skills

Spatial reasoning
Activities that develop spatial awareness such as building with blocks, creating maps, exploring shapes in the environment and obstacle courses.

 Early stage phonics
Engaging in phonics activities including games and songs to develop letter recognition and sound awareness.

Storytelling and book exploration
A rich collection of books and stories, with opportunities for children to choose their own books, listen to stories read aloud and re-tell stories in their own words with or without props.

Early writing experiences
Encouraging mark-making and early writing through a variety of materials, including pencils, pens, chalks paint and play dough.

Creating Our Own Books
Children have the opportunity to create their own stories and illustrations fostering a love of reading and writing.  We model story writing and storytelling with the aid of scribing.

 Nature exploration
Regular time in our “Secret Garden” exploring the natural world observing plants and animals and learning about growth and change throughout the year

Science Experiments
Conducting simple science experiments to spark curiosity and develop an understanding of scientific concepts such as changes of states of matter.

Cultural Celebrations
Exploring different cultures and traditions through stories, music, food and art.

Technology Integration
Using technology as a tool for learning and exploration using age appropriate games and coding robots.

Art Area
A designated art area where children can explore a variety of art materials and techniques, including painting, drawing, collage and sculpture, and textiles.  Exploring the work of different artists and their creative techniques such as Van Gogh, Henri Matisse, Lowry, Andy Warhol and Andy Goldsworthy.

Music and Movement
Daily music and movement sessions to explore different instruments, rhythm and dance styles

Dramatic Play
A well resourced dramatic play area where children can engage in imaginative play.

Performances and showcases
Opportunities for children to share their creative work through performances, fashion shows and storytelling
