Introduction to basic words and phrases in Makaton to foster an awareness and appreciation for diversity.
Gross Motor Exploration
Daily outdoor play in our nursery garden and “Secret Garden” climbing structures, balancing, riding bikes and trikes, exploring the outdoors and using lots of different materials and resources.
Fine Motor Mastery
A variety of activities designed to develop fine motor skills including threading, cutting and snipping with scissors, manipulating play dough, using tweezers pipettes and pincer tools etc.
Yoga and Mindfulness
Introducing simple yoga poses and mindfulness activities and exercises to promote body awareness, relaxation and emotional regulation.
Healthy Habits
Learning about nutrition through hands on cooking activities, exploring different fruits and vegetables and understanding the importance of healthy eating routines.
Emotional Literacy
Teaching of emotions helping children to identify, understand and manage their feelings in healthy ways. We use the ZONES OF REGULATION.

Hands on Maths Activities

Spatial reasoning

Creating Our Own Books
Children have the opportunity to create their own stories and illustrations fostering a love of reading and writing. We model story writing and storytelling with the aid of scribing.

Regular time in our “Secret Garden” exploring the natural world observing plants and animals and learning about growth and change throughout the year

Conducting simple science experiments to spark curiosity and develop an understanding of scientific concepts such as changes of states of matter.

A designated art area where children can explore a variety of art materials and techniques, including painting, drawing, collage and sculpture, and textiles. Daily music and movement sessions to explore different instruments, rhythm and dance styles
